Ah Girl

A 7-year-old girl battles with despair, delight and an unwanted haircut in this quirky autobiographical debut from Ang Geck Geck Priscilla.

Sassy Ah Girl lives with her younger sister, reserved dad and unpredictable grandmother since her parents’ divorce. Through her eyes, we navigate childhood crushes, the petty battle of her parents, and an introduction to the adult world far too soon. Brilliantly acted by an exuberant young cast, Ah Girl is an entertaining and singular depiction of childhood.

“Anchored by an astonishing central performance from first time actress Ong Xuan Jing, Ah Girl announces the debut of an impressively assured new voice in Asian cinema.” — James Marsh, ScreenAnarchy
