Black Money for White Nights
A bittersweet and often darkly funny tragicomedy about nostalgia, decay, and post-Soviet society.
After years of saving money from small bribes they collect, 60-year-old Marina and her husband Gosha from Bulgaria prepare for their dream trip to St. Petersburg to witness a natural phenomenon, the White Nights. But when Russia invades Ukraine and the travel agency vanishes with all their savings, their broken dream forces them to confront corruption, morality, and their own relationship.
“…a strong example of contemporary Eastern European cinema at its best — a film that transforms post-socialist realities, economic inequality, corruption and historical trauma into a deeply human story.” — Nataliia Serebriakova, FILMINK
