Into the Jaws of the Ogre

Iranian filmmaker Mahsa Karampour tries to reconnect with her younger brother in this thoughtful, tender documentary road movie.

Travelling across the US with Siavash, a punk musician exiled from their homeland, she tries to understand the life he has built far from her own. Moving between their journey and memories of childhood in Tehran, Karampour traces the distance that has grown between them, exploring siblinghood and the different ways we carry home with us.

“Beautifully poetic and deeply insightful, Into the Jaws of the Ogre is a fascinating document of two people who decide to allow the audience into their lives.” — Matthew Joseph Jenner, International Cinephile Society
