Look Back

We present two films this year from LIFF favourite Hirokazu Koreeda (Shoplifters, Monster), the sci-fi Sheep in the Box, and poignant friendship drama Look Back, his live action adaptation of celebrated manga artist Tatsuki Fujimoto’s beloved story.

Shot on 35mm and unfolding across the seasons in a small town in Northern Japan, Look Back portrays the growing emotional and creative bond between two teenage girls, confident Fujino and reclusive Kyomoto, who dream of becoming manga artists.
