Minotaur

The great Andrey Zvyagintsev (Leviathan, Loveless) returns with a taut crime thriller, which builds into a devastating critique of political corruption in contemporary Russia.

Loosely based on Claude Chabrol’s classic 1969 film La Femme infidèle, Minotaur follows Gleb, a powerful company director, who has to manoeuvre in a challenging corporate power struggle, only to be drawn into a clandestine surveillance campaign when he suspects his wife of having an affair.

“A simple domestic drama expands into a potent and perfectly mapped allegory for the mechanisms of Russian authoritarianism which, once it’s seen, cannot be unseen.” — Jessica Kiang, BFI
