Six Months in a Pink and Blue Building

A boundless creative energy informs this warm and colourful family drama set in Mexico City in the early 90s.

The film begins as Bruno turns 11, and he struggles to come to terms with his own emerging sexuality as feelings for his best friend Vladimir grow. His confusion is compounded by the shock announcement that his father has HIV. But his bustling household is full of life, art, food and music. Thirty years later, Bruno revisits his memories and tries to come to terms with his past.

“Constructing an unconventional coming-of-age film that’s both unique and memorable is no simple feat. This is especially impressive given the sheer number of similar stories told and produced every year, but Razo pulls off something special with Six Months in a Pink and Blue Building.” — Anna Miller, Next Best Picture
