Summer 2000: The X-Cetra Story

Four friends reunite when the album they made as pre-teens goes viral 20 years later. In 2000, X-Cetra was formed in a bedroom, pairing raw lyrics with trance beats.

Soon forgotten as the friends drifted apart, the album resurfaces online, attracting fans, record labels and a Rolling Stone feature. Now adults, they reunite to record a new song and recapture the unselfconscious joy of their girlhood. Ayden Mayeri’s debut is a celebration of female friendship and never losing your creative spark.

“A charming and surprisingly funny look at friendship, creativity, and the weird ways the internet can resurrect the past.” — Louisa Moore, Screen Zealots
