The Meltdown

Manuela Martelli’s second feature is an intense thriller set in 90s Chile, centering on a missing teenager in a remote ski resort.

9-year-old Ines is used to seeing people come and go at her family’s resort and when young German skier Hanna arrives, they form a fast friendship. But when Hanna goes missing, Ines observes the reaction of her community without truly understanding. A gripping film about the tensions of a small community as their country undergoes political transition.

“Confused connections, parental proxies, colonial histories – Martelli interweaves these narrative strands with skill and artistry.” — Sheri Linden, Hollywood Reporter
